on the surface level, it's a terrorist group called alshabaab vs the government
on a deeper level, it has always been and will always be about clans.
say clan A and clan B have been beefing for generations...
clan A throws their weight behind the government because of kickbacks and corruption favoring them
clan B automatically becomes terrorist supporters by default and the cycle continues. now imagine there's like 20 clans.
I use to be hopeful but now
since the primitive clan systems is passed down, even educated young people aren't safe from it.Somalis tend to be very successful outside of Somalia, there's a saying that translate to 'you put one somali in a room, he becomes a genius, you put 10 in a room and u get crabs in a bucket'.

It's western forces, not the Muslim inhabitants that are the cause. Soviets went in during Coldwar and destabilized the place, and they got their azzes handed to them and ran. Americans came in next in the 90s and suffered the same fate.
The power vacuum created by this western interference decimated the local Somalian population, much the same way it did to Afghanistan after both soviets and Americans destabilized the place, or in Libya after the US destabilized it a decade ago. Much like Libya which had large scale public works projects and education initiatives, so did the native Somalians under their democratic republic before western intervention. They were on track to be a success.

I actually disagree on this point at least in the United States ofAmerica. I cannot speak for the UK. The success of an African immigrant in America is directly proportional to the stability of their homeland. Among domestic African immigrants, Somalians score near the
bottom of education attainment and wealth, along with other Africans from wartorn(or mismanaged) countries, for example Sudan or congo. Somolians actually do worse than Haitians. Now Compare them to Nigerians, kenyans, south Africans, Ghanaians who all do extremely well outside their nations often beating educational attainment and wealth levels of the general US population.
Similarly, poverty rates for Somalians are also the highest among immigrant groups. Employment outcomes are similar . And unlike Kenyan, Nigerian, south African, or Ghanaian immigrants, who are most likely to find US employment in middle management or higher positions, Somolians are mostly factory workers or blue-collar.
