The white woman seemed to have grown up during the Great Depression. That's why she mentions hunger and starvation.
The social programs created during that period provided the social safety nets that didn't exist before then.

Great points made by Richard Pryor about poverty and suffering still existing in America despite those safety nets. Urban areas and in the rural Appalachia region.

Smh, I thought she was a socialite or something, but this woman was a Journalist and didn't know that people were homeless and starving people in the US in the 1970's :gucci:
