Windows Phone users who want to use Google Sync for contact and calendar integration had better act quickly: today is the last day that they can link their handsets to the service before Google pulls the plug. From August 1st onwards, Google Sync will only work on a given Windows Phone if it's already configured. The GDR 2 upgrade keeps syncing alive through CalDAV and CardDAV support, although many users could go without that support for some time -- to date, Americans can only see the OS refresh on the HTC 8XT, Lumia 520, Lumia 925and Lumia 1020. If you're not in that group and miss the Google Sync deadline, you'll just have to sit tight while Microsoft finishes rolling out the GDR 2 update this summer.

Yeah im wondering why I need that shyt, I got my contacts on my live account, I sign into my windows phone or windows 8 (just got yesterday) and everything popped up, facebook and sype linked to the accounts and everything.....I feel like I am missing something here, and why this thread was created

New windows customers would have one of the new phones that is already compatible tho

If you had an old ass phone, the way it works on windows phone is your email(s) will be one of your tiles on your phone
If you used google, then you already have synced it so you are good.
This story only applies to someone who has an old windows phone, but never synced before
Which would mean they don't use google contacts if that were the case.
There will be an update for those people within a month it says? (before the end of summer) cuz summer is almost over already
So this is really a non issue. Wouldn't you now agree
