The trailblazers have been a treadmill team that are going nowhere both with their present and previous core, and the Heat are currently a treadmill team too. They went .500 this year and missed the playoffs. They clearly need another piece. The spurs absolutely fleeced the pacers. You can't count on that. The Celtics are doing well, but you can't expect them to be realistic contenders with their best player being that small, when the smallest player to lead a team to a title was 6'3 190 pound Stephen Curry. If you don't have a realistic championship window, the sensible thing to do is blow it up. This isn't the NFL where you can find Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas, Bobby Wagner, and Russell Wilson all from the 2010-12 drafts while also trading for beast mode and expecting to find gems like undrafted free agent Brandon Browner too. There's two rounds in the draft, and the cornerstone players are gone after the top ten 95% of the time while it's a total crapshoot to even find a useful player in the second round. The only way to open the championship window is hit a home run in the top ten picks (usually top five) or hit a home run in free agency.
