It was good, but I expected more considering all the acclaim it gets as arguably the greatest comic story ever. Maybe it's just the aging. It probably did seem mind-blowingly epic in 1986.

It has some plot holes that were too unrealistic even for comics and even for Batman to me. Like how the fukk did he just give the Mutants and the Batmen a pep talk and turn them (particularly the Mutants) from Clockwork Orange-type baby-killing psychopaths into superheroes who don't kill? :dahell:

Still an overall good story...expected a little more. Not fukking with The Watchmen.

He's Batman and he took down their leader. The saying goes the sheep follow whoever is in charge. :birdman:

Okay I'm reading Arkham Asylum now, and after just a few pages, this >>> TDKR.

Grant Morrison

I thought AA was overrated. I read it and immediately was :dwillhuh:

People don't go from gangraping, torturing, and murdering random men, women, and children to :cape: just because Batman beat up their leader and gave them a speech bruh. I know it's comic books, but come on.

I was just reading an article about how one of the men who followed Joan of Arc was a serial child murderer

Like Miller was gonna spend time on Batman psychoanalyzing every one of those goons. :dead:

The basic formula is once a few bow down so does the entire herd. Stop over thinking it with reality.

Plus he's Batman. If his old ass could take down the big, bad leader then I'm sure no one wants to fukk with him. :birdman:

That shyt makes zero sense. People who kill babies and gangrape and murder random people are soulless, consciousless psychopaths and don't all en masse turn into superheroes because of a convincing speech from Batman. It's not about just following the strongest top dog. They would have to fundamentally morph their entire character permanently to go from shooting kids and laughing about it to selflessly defending the defenseless against people like how they used to be and never killing them in the process. That's just lazy ass writing.

:ld:Wasn't the hype around this really centered around there finally being a "dark" Batman story separating it from the Adam West Batman and that he actually "defeated" Superman in a official comic? I recently read it for the first time in preparation for the animated version, which is great by the way, and i never really heard, read or saw discussions about that Mutant story. I knew Robin was a girl but other than that, it was all about him being dark and fighting Supes. Both recent Batman movie franchises are based off this comic pretty much...
