Exactly. People always be mad at the label, but damn near NOBODY from his prime years at Def Jam are still there. These ain't people whose jobs he's actually impacted one way or another. Def Jam is just the name of the label and the company, but the staff ain't the same staff that was there in '92, '96, or even 10 years ago. The current staff doesn't even have much of a history with him, and not a profitable one for sure. Russell, Lyor, Liles, Lighty, Tracey Waples... all them people done moved on. He should probably do the same at this point. It's like being the star of your high school basketball team 20 years ago, and going to your school today and bein' surprised that none of the teachers know who the hell you are.

The rock labels treat their veterans like gods breh.. many of the younger people who work for def jam grew up listening to red and he needs a visitor card to hang around?

People seem to forget and Redman has to realize it's no longer DEF JAM he is dealing with

it's UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP.....def jam wasn't even listed on that vistors pass he had

he's not the first of the legends to complain about def jam...LL COOL J did while JAY-Z was their....DEF JAM has been on the corporate tip because that was the only way to secure it's LONGEVITY...

and unfortunately in corporate America it's LONGETIVTY >>>>>>>>>> LEGACY

He was their when Lyor was their....and even though Lyor was very accessible ...Lyor was solely responsible for moving DEF JAM into the corporate realm

remember LYOR is the "architect of the 360 deal"

Which is why ARTIST DEVELOPMENT no longer exists at DEF JAM because that's not the STANDARD BUSINESS MODEL of the industry...

they (the labels) want you to develop your OWN BUZZ..and then they MIGHT holler

and if they do holler they will subcontract their SERVICES via a THIRD PARTY which is usually that artist's particular camp

like Top Dawg Entertainment with K.Dot and Schoolboy Q

or Think it's a Game with Rich Homie Quan and Trinidad James

also consider UNIVERSAL the parent company of DEF JAM fired like 80% of it's a&rs like 2 years ago.....

they don't see the neccisty of them...with the internet and artists personally developing themselves and it's cost effective

Def Jam is IMPERSONAL as fukk and has been like that for awhile because CORPORATE AMERICA is impersonal.....
