If your car loan is lets say through toyota and you wish to refinance through a credit union. Do you have to open an account at the credit union in order to refinance?

Yes. At least it's like that at my local credit union.

Yes. Usually requires just $5 in the account that can never leave for the life of the loan.

SchoolsFirst (if you're on the west coast) and PenFed are probably your best bet. Unless you have one of your own in mind.
