Reggae crooner, Jah Cure, is currently behind bars in an Amsterdam jail after the Jamaican was arrested for allegedly stabbing a reggae promoter.
The stabbing which occurred on Saturday was severe enough that the producer had to undergo surgery, a procedure βwhich was successfulβ, according to police in the Netherlands.
Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccaturie Alcock, is no stranger to trouble and life behind bars as in 1998 he was charged and convicted for rape. The singer spent 8 years of a 13-year sentence in a Jamaican prison. It was while behind bars that he recorded some of his biggest hits like βLonging Forβ and βReflectionβ.
Unlike Vybz Kartel who has been accused for illegally recording music while behind bars serving a murder sentence, Jah Cureβs recording were all legal as part of a Jamaican prison program to rehabilitate prisoners through music. A music studio was actually in the prison for the use of the prisoners.
There has been no word on whether the singer is eligible for bail or when he will be released from his confinement. Stay tuned to 18 Karat Reggae for more news on this.
