How am I giving them too much credit when you're trying to attribute the Lakers defense in 09-10 to Artest? The 3 years the Lakers went to the finals they had the 5th, 6th and 4th best defenses in the league, how is that all on Artest when they were a top 5 squad without him? The best teams have interior defenders, teams without them rarely win titles, even Bosh for all the shyt he got was a solid interior defender. The Bulls are an outlier, using them as some reference point is straight especially when the 2nd three peat Bulls had Rodman as well as playing an unconventional lineup with Harper at the 1.

No, Duncan is the best interior defender in the last 15+ years.

He was a mere role player on both those teams. When he was running the show, he was unable to even lead a team to back-to-back Finals. It is what it is.
