I'm no spurs fan, but even if Tim and pop weren't 2 of my favorite nba people ever, the reactions on here would be gold.

i just might take a vacation for all of june and just sit and watch all the posts

MVPs are about popularity and story lines. No knowledgeable basketball fan would argue that Danny Green was more important to the Spurs success than Tim Duncan
I gurantee you probably felt Kobe was the best player over Shaq when they were playing together.
Pleasant memories, huh, Malta? And Duncan was the ONLY player on his team to make it to first team
1st team All-NBA, and was their best player in the finals that year.
This is pathetic, you said the Spurs never made it to back to back finals, now you're trying to tack on the "lead" part as though he wasn't their best defensive player or 2nd most important player. Here are your exact words -
I want you to re-read this again. Maybe re-read it three or four times, then get back to me.
Conley and Randolph are some bums now? Gasol was NEVER a role player, only thing different between this year and last is aggressiveness. You can't have it both ways, you can't say Duncan was a "role player" then turn around and say Gasol isn't one this year.
Well, what the hell does that mean? Of course Gasol was a role player before this year. If you're not stepping your game up and playing at a high-level every night, you are not an elite player.
Duh!
Joakim Noah could be an elite player in the league, as well. He just needs to be more aggressive offensively, that's all.
Gasol is a legit MVP candidate this year, widely considered to be the best big man in the game, and is without a doubt the best player on the Grizzlies this year. Duncan's been a role player pretty much this entire decade. He had a nice little 18 &10 season in 2013 while being protected in Pop's system(see: glorified system role player), but he wasn't the Spurs best player that year - Tony Parker was.
Conley & Randolph aren't as good as Parker(2011-14). Conley just started playing at a borderline all-star level this year. We'll see if it lasts.
A blog from June 17, games 6 and 7 were June 18th and June 20th, in those games Danny Green was 1 for 7 and 1 for 12, yet you're here championing him as a MVP because some dated blogs from prior to game 6 and 7 said so. Duncan's worst games were 2 and 3, that's it, you trying to stretch it out to 4 and 5 is laughable since he had 20/5 and 17/12/3 in those games, he led the Spurs in scoring and rebounding period, had they finished it in 6, Duncan would have gotten the MVP because of the fact he had 30/17 to Greens 1 for 7 no show.
You win Finals MVP's based on your overall body of work in a series, not based on being the best player for one game. This isn't the Superbowl, friend.
Especially considering Duncan had a second-half so non-impactful that his own coach pulled him from that game in the last crucial seconds.
Finals MVP's don't get benched in crucial moments, friend.
Duncan was pretty much role-player status in Gms 2-5 of that series, while Green was setting 3-point shooting Finals records. Green winning the MVP was pretty much a done deal had the Spurs wrapped up the series in 6 and you know it. The whole league pretty much knew it.
Stop with this revisionist history, it's getting past the point of ridiculous.![]()
Miss a layup and win a title the next season as the 2nd leading scorer on a team, brehs. .
Well, Duncan had a chance to claim the Finals MVP had the Spurs won Gm7, but he pissed it away. Either way, he wasn't the best player on the Spurs that year -
and he never lead a team to back-to-back Finals.![]()
duncan was the 2nd option, if we throwing that away then throw kobe's three peat on shaqs back out the window too![]()
Slap yourself.duncan is not better than kobe
kobe is a top 3 player of all time while duncan is not even the best pf, with dirk being #1 and kg #2
Cool, now show all the times he's missed the playoffs and ended up with lottery picks
He about to be 67 years old and still ain't involved in the lottery, meanwhile Kobe about to reup.

Like I said in the other thread, the disrespect Kobe is getting is on another level. It's shocking frankly. He's going out a hobbled bum and with everyone laughing too.
This. Mikes career has become a fish story. He was amazing, but writers and talking heads would make you think he never missed a shot or made a bad pass or gave up a bucket or anything. Look at how the media is so quick to credit him with 100% of the Bulls success from 1984-1998 that they try to discredit the rest of the team and coaching staff, one that won 55 games in 1993-1994 when he "retired" a month before the season began. He makes a strong argument for best ever, but I vote for Kareem too. Makes a real strong argument too.Honestly, this is more deifying MJ than anything else. Since that man has finished playing we've had so many outlandish bootlicking comments about him than ever before. It's like cats are scared of dude.
I'm putting Kareem at the top of any list that starts with basketball. I don't even mind cats saying MJ is GOAT in their opinion, but if you look at KAJ's basketball career and try to claim it's not even an argument between him and MJ you shouldn't be discussing sports in public. I don't give a fukk what any of these analysts say.
He should have needed 10x more games thoMichael isn't 10x better.
But I'd like to congratulate Kobe on surpassing Michael on the all-time scoring list.
.....in 200 more games.

.
Reggie musta been on Youtube showing his kid some highlights from his Glory Days and stumbled onto this gem
He was 20 for fukk Sake, with a bum ankle![]()

fukk all that....since yall wanna give Ken Berger's opinion weight, let's post MORE from the same article
Like I said before only a damn FOOL would say that Kobe is not a Top 10 player of all-time
And being that all yall agree with him saying Duncan > Kobe, then agree just as much with him saying Kobe is Top 10 all-time![]()
why would you argue an entire basketball career based on who's the best NBA player of all time?
1. MJ
2. Kareem
