Interesting prospective. My dad has actually taken on a similar line of thinking. I think the question to ask is taking the Old Testament in this way realistic for the time we’re living in?
I feel one would have to strip themselves from society in so many ways to truly keep the old covenant.

The bible is only for the initiated to understand,thats what makes it the greatest book in the world. I don't care how often they study it,without discerment and having the right heart,mind,spirituality they will still be lost. I would say 95% of the teachers in the church are lost and definitely shouldn't be followed. Not even for bad behavior,but for lacking the discernment,its not truly their calling.

No. The problem that faces most people who read the text is taking it out of context. What that means is that one should understand who the text was written for and why. The answers are: ALL the Ancient Near Eastern nations 3,000 years ago, and, because the Jewish people back then were facing the extinction of their identity. Thus, many of the things that transpired in the OT have NO application to today's society and are merely recordings of socio-historical/cultural data in contradistinction to surrounding Nations.​
