Colorism is real in our community. I curbed a lot of good hearted brown skin women back in the day to chase after light skin and yellow bones.

there are threads about light skin women appreciation and then i go into the thread and see nothing but brown skinned women (not complaining,y'all some pretty motherfukkers)

I only refer to myself as chocolate when I'm joking. But I dont seriously classify myself as anything other than black. Anything else than that imo is more subclassification of an already divided ppl.
White folks were the ones who made us self conscious of our colors like that. I refuse to go along with the madness. Light skin black ppl, dark skinned black ppl, we are all the same ppl. I love black women no matter your shade.
When Mos Def and Talib made the song Brown Skin Lady it was implied that dark skinned women and women "in the middle" were both in the same category. Later on the women "in the middle" took over the brown skin label...
