Remember 6-7 years ago when people still thought producing took skill.

I think when it was found out that 9th Wonder and Just Blaze used FL, the game changed.

Dumbest thread in a while. It probably takes at least a year to even get where DJ Mustard is beat wise, and I'm being disrespectful to DJ Mustard. He's better than that. Plus he makes catchy shyt, something 90% of people who pirate FL studio can't do.

Getting on the level of Kanye, timbaland, dre, etc? 1 year. fukk outta here. Gonna take 5 years of constant beat making MININUM just to get beats like theirs.

shyt even these younger cats like boi1da, sounwave, 40, hit boy, Ryan Lewis. Nobody coming close to those dudes in a fukking year. Lol.

yep to be fair it takes about 7-10 years to start getting the hang of music on timbo , just blaze level.

especially if u just going at it alone with no guidance or money. shyt is frustrating as hell and will make you give up.

if you have a good ear for music, a lot of free time (I'm talking about doing this full time) and patience, within a year you could probably emulate your favorite beat-maker's style pretty well and even have a "decent" mix. the blueprint is already there and you're just pluging in variables.

the hard part is actually coming up with your own blueprint and your own style and making a hit off of that. and then making another hit. and then making a few more hits. then changing your style and making other hits off that other style.

it's kinda like saying producing is easy because the song "We Will Rock You" by Queen was easy to make. sure it's easy to play Boom Boom Clap, Boom Boom Clap.... and then playing the guitar riff at the end. but why didn't anyone think of it before? because producing is more than just technical knowledge of equipment and software. You have to factor in creativity as well. not only in composition but also in figuring out a style.

so no, producing music is not necessarily easy. producing a particular song can be easy. but producing hits back to back? :francis:

Making beats =/= producing. Just because you can throw some nice sounds together using Fruityloops doesn't mean you're capable of producing music. Put these guys in a room with an artist and you're probably not going to get good results. There's a difference between 9th Wonder creating music using Fruityloops and Soulja Boy using it.

Then it came out that ANYONE could do it if they have the programs.

And there shyt will barely sound no different than professional after a month or 2.

Lmfao pulled the wool over our eyes
hip hop is a basic art form...it doesn't require a lot of skill...Hip hop is predominantly based on how you make the audience feel...It is more natural talented, that skilled developed over a long period of practice and repetition...

Passed rappers are irrelevant to the success of new rappers...
