Remember how teachers always complained how underpaid they were?

All through elementary school and high school, these clowns were complaining about what a lowly unappreciated industry education is and how they all struggled.

The facts:
They only work 6 hours a day
They only work 8-9 months a year
They get full pension and benefits after they retire, something very few people in the private industry will ever get

And I'm checking the transparentcalifornia website and these disgruntled teachers are making base salaries of $80-$90k Sure, they're not "rich" but if you're a teacher and your spouse has even a menial job somewhere, you're easily in the top 10%. Cops make twice as much as you'd think they do too It's no surprise the government always has budget problems.

Teachers don't just show up to class at 8 and go home at 3.
They grade papers.
They tutor.
They prepare lessons.
They actually do work during the summers.
Often, they have to come out of their own pockets for school supplies.
And they're educating your stupid fukkin kids that you won't because you're tired from your job so you sit them in front of a tv or hand them an iPad and then you're outraged when they perform poorly and have no sense of the world or history.

Only a fukking a$$hole would complain about teachers having some sort of cushy gig.

And a good teacher is gonna put extra time planning activities, adjusting lesson plans, helping slow kids/problems students.

most teachers suck so they're probably getting paid what they deserve. But those teachers that go above and beyond deserve pay that reflects their work. And if teachers got a better wage brighter people would dedicate themselves to the job.

The problem is being a teacher isn't commission based. You get the same pay no matter the result even in private schools - But at least in the private schools a promotion is probably easier if you are a real "rockstar".

Do u know how hard it is to keep kids of this generation to sit still, not look at their phones, and be engaged in things that actually are being disproved or irrelevant these days? let alone break up fights or disorderly conduct. Also they have to come out of pocket for certain supplies since certain schools have dwindling budgets. Even in catholic private schools teachers had strikes. Ever notice sometimes they wear the same clothes all the time or work other jobs as well? My Spanish teacher also worked at Macy's. Nah bruh u on ur won. But coaches are a WHOLE different story.

In comparison to work in the private industry, it IS a cushy gig. I'm not saying that there aren't some teachers that deserve that kind of money and then some, but in the private industry, you have to be pretty elite at what you do to be in that salary range and you're not getting tons of vacation and holidays, amazing benefits, or a pension plan.

The way things were originally set up, government jobs were conservative and safe. You wouldn't get rich doing them and the benefits were to reward you for giving up more money in the private industry to serve the public good. The government salaries have continued to go up while they have settled and/or decreased in most other fields.

Vacation days, sick days.

Easy ass curriculum, form a formula and keep using it for years.
