I remember watching that game 1, even as a kobe fan why the fukk he kept shooting instead of just letting Shaq dictate the game.
In hindsight though, rape case, need eith Shaq, wanting to be the man. All that with him being conditioned to take those shots, knowing Shaq would be there to grab them either way, played the biggest part in it.

You know the reason people laugh at lebrons chokes more than Kobe’s chokes? It was the perception that followed both.
Kobe was always seen as overconfident, taking too many shots. Tries too hard. That was displayed in 04
Lebron, atleast for some years, was seen as mentally weak, easily intimidated, afraid. That was displayed in 11
And in the end people will always take the over-confident over what is perceived as weak.
Kind of got to blame the legend around Jordan, Skip Bayless and Social media for that. Lebron still fighting till this day to get that “frozen one” shadow off him
