They didn't get beat down by 30 and show a lack of defense though.

It's stupid to compare the 2.

One team was a upstart that had very little success the season before.

The other is coming off a record breaking season and a Finals run.

We can compare the Warriors to thier last 2 seasons...we couldn't do that with the Heat.

They didn't get beaten by 30, they had a lot more to "come together" than the Warriors did (remember all of that Kevin Durant will fit in seamlessly, he's perfect for their style of play, they're unselfish anyway so there shouldn't be any issues, etc), and didn't have a core coming off consecutive Finals runs and a record-breaking season.

Not to mention the Heat didn't lose at home, they lost to the Celtics on the road, and their defense was never the issue, it was their offense and we knew they'd eventually figure that out (or at least there was strong optimism). The Warriors' problem is one that I and a lot of people were saying when they got Durant in the first place - they won't be able to get rebounds or stop anybody from getting to the paint.

Terrible comparison.

The general idea that this isn't the end of the world for the Warriors just like it wasn't for the Heat is an okay premise, but that "championship runs have to start somewhere" shouldn't be said about a team that has the core from the last two Finals.

The comparisons between the Miami Heat and the Warriors team is very shallow analysis

The team that is the current Warriors have their core intact and have been playing together for years BEFORE you added Kevin Durant

The only comparison that holds up is that as of this moment the Warriors have rebounding and rim protection concerns the way Miami did.

Miami had to trot out corpses or mismatches at center for basically 4 years. This caused them to have to play a scrambling defense on the perimiter and regularly blitz ball handlers and recover...This shyt absolutely fried their legs and took an immense toll on them. It also caused them to be prone to teams who could pass the ball well enough because they tried to recover to protect the paint.

Spoelstra foolishly overprioritized protecting the paint when they didnt even have long term solutions at the centre. It was just a hodgepodge of attempted solutions.

The Warriors issues will be rebounding and a size deterrent at the rim. Their options are Varejao, West, McGee and Pachulia.... This will be problematic against certain teams .

And yes the Warriors will be able to overcome a lot of it in the regular season due to outscoring opponents

But they have to get through 4 7 game series againts opponents who would have scouted that very same weakness.

And what happens when they meet a team that can hang with them in scoring the ball....or at least bring them below their normal scoring binges...a team like Cleveland has held Klay and Steph below their scoring averages for two finals straight

They will be fine and will be in the Finals when it's all said and done. Dubs fans shouldn't be worrying.

Gotta imagine the emotional crush of the Finals was at play. In their mind they should have been receiving their rings that night.

That being said it's one game, let's not turn this into #HotTake theater. They haven't gelled as a team yet, it takes time. The Heat started out 10-8 in October/November. They didn't start looking dominant until December.

These desperate attempts to compare the Warriors to the Heat :mjlol:. When KD actually runs away from competition and joins with his actual rivals it's "hey you can't knock him for that like we did Bron despite the fact that he actual did it and Bron didn't". Now it's "we can't overreact like we did every L with the Heat despite the fact that this is more disturbing than anything those Heat experienced that first year".
