DMV is a part of the East coast geographically but, culturally they're in their own world. Too northern to be considered a part of the south like 757/VA, the Carolinas or Tennessee. Too southern to be lumped in with the cities farther north. I guess you can say DC is the gateway/buffer area between the two.
Give you an example. If you take a dude from Philly, a dude from Queens, a dude from Jersey City/Newark & a dude from DC and put them in a room. The Philly, Jersey & NY dudes would share a lot of slang, clothing styles, music they listen to, etc. The DC cat would be wearing new balances/foamposites/nike boots with tight jeans & large cuffs, dreads, like go go music & use slang the other nikkas aren't privy to
