Not really car savvy, but ive done a few maintenance things on my car already myself (replace break pads/breaks etc) but the starter in my 09 Altima is going out. I dont got the money to take it to a mechanic, so I was wondering how hard it to replace it and do the work myself?

Nissan Altimas aren't for players and ballerz so no one here can help you. Go here.

Just kidding. It's relatively easy. I say relatively because access to the starter may not be easy. You'll probably have to remove some things that are in the way for access purposes. Nothing major though.
You will want a set of metric sockets with a ratchet wrench. Always undo the battery when working on electrical stuff. Do a youtube search.

It will depend on the engine you have, the 2.5 is easy and you might just have to disconnect the alternator and tilt it up in Order to gain access. If you have the 3.5 V6, good luck with that it is doable but tough cuz you have very little room to work with in the bay. I used to own an SE-R with this engine and did replace the starter at one point.
