Gunfire in Paris suburbs as police track down attacks suspect

Shots rang out in the Saint Denis area of northern Paris early on Wednesday as special police forces launched an operation to catch one of the suspects from Friday night’s shooting in the French capital, French TV stations reported.
Here are the latest developments:

  • French President François Hollande is to travel to Washington to meet US President Barack Obama on November 24 and then on to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 26, to discuss international cooperation in the fight against the Islamic State group.
  • France has conducted air strikes against Islamic State group targets in the Syrian city of Raqqa for the third night in a row.
  • Germany’s interior ministry declared that seven people arrested near the western town of Aachen on Tuesday did not appear to have any connection to last week’s attacks in Paris, contradicting earlier reports.
  • US Secretary of State John Kerry held talks with French President François Hollande at the Elysée Palace. Afterwards Kerry said the two had discussed greater cooperation in the fight against the Islamic State group.
  • France has conducted air strikes against Islamic State group targets in the Syrian city of Raqqa for the second night in a row.
  • Prosecutors have identified five of the seven dead assailants involved in the attacks, while a search is under way for an eighth suspect – 26-year-old Belgian Salah Abdeslam .
  • France has made a formal request to its fellow EU members for military aid and assistance.

French, Germans, and Belgians have been hunting these guys down in mass the last three days. Hopefully they don't leave any stones unturned.
