With rumors of NBA expansion swirling, it’s time to look at more concrete evidence.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has repeatedly shot down expansion talk, and that’s not him going rogue. His bosses have apparently taken a firm stance.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders:

Basketball Insiders reached out to an NBA owner and a voting member of the Board of Governors and was told flatly that any talk of expansion has been shot down at every turn inside the Board of Governors meetings. It’s been a non-starter.

There is a theoretical one-time expansion fee so high where the current 30 owners would divide their shares of revenue further. But the NBA takes in so much annually, it’s hard to imagine a new ownership group could and would front enough money.

Sorry, Seattle (and Louisville and Las Vegas and…). The evidence is overwhelmingly on the side of the league staying at 30 teams. You’ll probably just have to poach a team from another city.

BAY AREAAAAAAA!!!!
fukk Seattle, league needs to contract.
Bucks, Twolves, Grizzlies, Magic, Kings, and Suns needs to go.

:what: T Wolves on the come up tho. And the Grizzlies a solid playoff squad. Bucks a good young team with an upside. Magic a dumpster fire. Sac is a dumpster fire but I don't mind them. Why the Suns?

Relocate the Pelicans to Seattle and call it a day

I rebuke this in the name of Louisiana. They've only had an NBA team for like what? 13 years? Give them time. Magic or Jazz should relocate to Seattle.

They had empty seats at their home opener earlier this week despite having the most promising young star in the sport

:yeshrug: People down there love football and nothing else

SLC is a great NBA market and Orlando gives the NBA access to the expanding Central Florida region. New Orleans is a small impovershied town. What value do they have to the NBA? Very few Fortune 500 companies, no basketball lineage, a disinterested population, etc

All the teams I listed are perrenial bottom feeding teams , just a waste of talent.
I would have added the hornets, but I figured 6 is a nice even number and the Hornets could be moved to Seattle in a real market

Relocate Sacramento...that team should have been gone anyway. Once they lose DeMarcus Cousins they might as well start putting the pressure to move back to Seattle.

Still boggles my mind how Seattle doesn't have an NBA team. I don't think Expansion is a good idea either...keep it the numbers as is and just relocate teams to places that would support them.

They just opened a $700 million dollar, public funded stadium.

Not happening.

:rudy: Best arena in the league and one of the best in the world. Have a wait list for season tickets, Silver wants the city to host all star weekend in 2020 and they look like a playoff team already. Don't blame us :sas2:
