Report indicates that Masai Ujiri believes the Toronto Raptors core has peaked as currently constructed.

According to a report by Joe Kotoch at Sheridan Hoops, the Toronto Raptors are actively exploring trades for three core players: Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, and Jonas Valanciunas.

While the source of this report isn't blue chip, it does cite "several NBA executives" and would confirm what Masai Ujiri meant when he referred to the Raptors on Monday as "open for business". Kotoch's sources also mention that Ujiri believes that the Raptors core as it stands today has reached its peak, even in the weaker Eastern Conference.

If that truly is the assessment, I would agree with it. The current Raptors roster appears primed for a "stuck in the mud" season after the locker room issues of this spring. As a GM with championship aspirations, it makes sense for Masai to put all his cards on the table as he seeks a fair value trade to either move up in the draft or bring in an established player via trade or free agency. Lowry, DeRozan and Valanciunas are all on fair contracts given the impending cap bonanza next summer, and I'm sure there are teams that would be interested in them.

While we're at it, the Pacers are dumb as hell for making that playoff push last season

Should have moved David West to a contender, and explored trade options for Hibbert/George Hill

Now they could potentially see West/Hibbert both walk on them, and they are drafting on the back end of the lottery

Imagine if they were drafting Mario or Mudiay right now, with shyt loads of capspace and PG13 returning ... :smh:

Lowry could help turn some team into a contender. Very good when right which I guess is the issue with him

DeRozan is a weird player that can't shoot yet chucks up an insane amount of contested long two's and doesn't have very good handles. Would be good for the Raps to trade him now if they can get good value in return
