Respect & The Notion Of Respecting Your Elders

How do you all view the thread title?

But morseo, how do you all feel as it pertains to the respect of your elders.? I was brought up in a household where we respect the older heads and show common courtesy. However it seems as if (i guess because im older now) that this is thrown out of the window.

This was how I was raised. Some of the things I hear the kids doing now days to older people would have gotten me a swift kick in the pants. A lot of these kids have no respect for the people that came before them, and look where that has gotten us. Even hearing how some of these kids talk to their parents…I'm just in awe. Out in public too!

This is a problem with how the youth not only view authority but how they treat people, it's getting out of hand imo.

dont sometimes the things that some older heads say........ but i try to respond with no disrespect towards them, if i have an opposing view. However they are times when old folks step out of bounds with the "shooting the dozens"

Believe it or not i can understand this breh breh. I do. I have had incidents online (Face book in particular) where i have had to step out of bounds, in reference to the lack of respect certain older heads , have shown towards me. I try to be respectful of everyone opinion, but that insulting me because "im young" is something that doesnt sat right with me.

Respect for elders is all but gone in american culture. This new generation is taught to demand respect before earning it and have zero consideration of age or authority.

I was raised to respect my elders and they get respect off GP until they prove otherwise. Its different as an adult especially at work where you have some older adults who are basically idiots. I think as human beings was all deserve some level of respect in general until we prove it's not warranted. If someone older than me acts disrespectful towards me, I will handle it while still maintaining my self respect. It takes extreme cases for me to act a fool.
