Since the Coli and many black people seem to think Africa was always at the mercy of Arabs and Africans/blacks NEVER fought back and won... Lets talk about the Zanzibar revolution. We all know about the Nubians giving the Arabs a big L but I hardly see anyone discuss when the Swahilis of Zanzibar gave Arabs one of the most BRUTAL beatings.

The beating was so brutal that when I read through it I'm like :picard::picard::picard:. What the Swahilis did to their former Arab oppressors was some "cover your eyes" type shyt. But also it was Aricans overthrowing Arabs and taking BACK repeat BACK their island, culture and identity.

So why isn't this talked about much by other blacks who are into African history. Hell blacks who are anti-Arab.

i'm glad that op emphasized on the fact that they took BACK their Island. Eurocentrics love to use the fallacy that there was no swahili community before Arabs. Fact is Zanzibar was already a vibrant place before they arrived. Zanzibar was already occupied with Africans looong before the 10AD. shyt we already know Rhapta was running back then.

YEP! The Swahili history even in recent times is a true inspiration when it comes to African history. It like a rise and fall but another rise. But is crazy that so called "Afrocentrics" HARDLY talk about the Swahili story. And people look at me crazy when I say Bantu people are literally the slavs of Africa.

nikka... Not only do Bantus receive the most Eurocentric racism from racists. But like Slavs they were the MOST enslaved in Africa and like Slavs they expanded into new areas that was already populated. These two became the source of SHAME and dislike by racists, other Africans, and even so-called "Africanists." The last two will not admit to this, but trust me you can see it online. Its only racist ass Afro-Asiatic Africans that admit it. Also Bantus are seen as not having any advanced civilization on par with Egypt, Mali/Timbuktu. Ethiopia, Nubia, Moors, etc.

But more importantly I am a big Swahili coast fanatic and the Swahili coast is lowkey one of the greatest African civilizations... Yet I can't find ONE damn Swahili coast book by a well known Africanist scholar/author. NONE. Just like with Great Zimbabwe or the Kongo Kingdom. The only I know of is by Robin Walker and the books are not even their OWN books but included with other civilizations in the book. Slav history in Europe is ALSO ignored by European historians. This is what I mean.

I couldn't agree more, even myself as a black history buff and pan-africanist couldn't help but think the Bantu's seemed like the lesser achieving group of Africans. I know it's wrong to think that but I'm just being honest....(much love to my Bantu folk reading this though, you'll get your shine eventually  )

Also shout out to the people of Zanzibar for getting rid of those enslaving ass Arabs and giving them that work.....

YEP... I use to have this very same thinking when it came to Bantus. And guess who influenced that thinking... *drum roll* "Africanist" and other Africans. YEP! And not those typical online Eurocentrics. But people who claimed they were so into African history and Africans like West Africans and Afro-Asiatic Africans.

nikkas think we're lying. People have to understand that studying Bantu history is VERY important if we want to understand the FULL puzzle when it comes to African history. Because Southern Africans and Bantu East Africans may have played a BIGGER role in history than we thought. We already KNOW West Africans played a VERY big rule the former two could have played an EVEN BIGGER role. Trust me...

Like I said the Swahili/Zanzibar story is very inspiring. They gave the Arabs that work and then gave then the boot. Then took back their land AND HISTORY. Any mention of Arabs being responsible for Swahili civilization has been erased. And I am glad Swahili scholars are doing their best to reclaim their rich history. But we need MORE than just the local Swahilis. So far there has NOT been a John Henrik Clarke or other diasporan scholar type that has wrote about the Swahili civilization. Besides Robin Walker.
