This game just bored the hell out of me. I remember playing until about the 30 hour mark where combat opens up, but I felt zero motivation to continue. Hated the characters, storyline was confusing and buried in datalogs....

I remember giving XIII 2 a chance and enjoying my time with it, but never got around to finishing it.

I love FFXIII, the stakes seemed big. Visually was gorgeous for its time too.

I got the platinum trophy for this when I first played it on PS3 back in the day so I must have enjoyed it to some degree. I tried to play it again on Xbox when it was on gamepass and it bored me to tears.

-Convoluted story
-Annoying characters outside of Sazh
-No real towns
-Takes a minute for the battle system to get into gear

Its not a bad game but it falls below the bar for a mainline FF.

Paradigm Shift is the best thing to come out this series

The battle system was very influential to the series going forward. It made the stagger mechanic mainstream and everyone after started using it to the point it’s an industry staple now.

It was a good battle system but it wasn’t as complex as they made it out to be and didn’t need such an extended tutorial of half a game before they let you lose.

It also had this amazing scene
