all the rhino has to do is lower it's horn under the hippo when they're squaring up. Hippo wouldn't get close to having a good angle to bite the rhino since the head and neck will be down. Since the rhino is bigger stronger and just as mobile, the horn will just keep stabbing under the hippo.
