It just seems like we're focusing on the wrong foreigners.
Poor immigrants don't take away high paying jobs. Most of them get paid under the table or simply create their own hustles. At most they hurt hospitals by getting free service in the emergency room. But even then emergency rooms only provide bare minimum services.
Rich foreigners contributed to the inflated housing market by driving up real estate prices. They help inflate already high housing markets and gentrify others. They literally accumulate more wealth and take it out of the country.
And when politicians say they will bring the jobs back to America these rich foreigners who don't even live in this country own billions in real estate. Then you got shady business owners who can simply run back to their country because they still have their passport.
