Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers is a rivalry replete with trash talk from both sides and this season, the award for first shot goes to cornerback Richard Sherman.
Sherman was asked on Wednesday if Cam Newton's run in with a Seahawks fans flag last season, following the Panthers playoff win over the Seahawks, crossed over the line of Newton's typical celebrations. Newton took away the fans flag and tossed it aside, as was customary for him last season with many opposing team's signage, when at home.
Sherman responded in the affirmative but gave it some extra Richard Sherman zest.
"Yeah, he probably did and I guess karma gets you," Sherman said. "It doesn't look like he's going to be in the playoffs this year."
Neither side is ever bashful about taking some fun digs at the other but this colorful jab has some interesting nuance to it, considering Sherman has defended Newton's celebrations in the past.
But, you don't mess with the 12's and expect a Seahawks player not to respond in kind.
