Use to be in order to cancel a comedian you didn't like, you just simply didn't attend their shows or laugh at their jokes. After going from top billing to just barely getting gigs, they eventually get the message and try to switch up their comedy routines.

I've seen the Ricky Gervais standup. I thought it was pretty funny. Same with Ali's. 2 different approaches but the funny is undeniable in both. If you don't like it, it's on you. Don't try to determine what's funny to everyone else. I say it's not hate. You do. I disagree.
Come on man, this isn't hard.
We all know the jokes about black people that are tired. Bill Burr has a great bit about how the "you know how white people do this, but black people do it like this" routine is hack and played out. No one is saying you can't joke on black people. Just be funny and respectful with it. Similar with LGBT or any other group.
But ultimately, if a major part of your routine is speaking about race or gender... Odds are you're struggling to write great content.
