:rip:

been using samsung galaxy nexus that i bought a little over a year ago, and after some foolish wiping through custom recovery (NOTE: whatever you do, do not press format factory under advanced menu in the latest CWM recovery) my IMEI got wiped, no backups anywhere [which basically means no mobile data, no phone signal (no call/text) but my wifi works though ]
so i got this neat little paperweight now :to:.......

options are
-im contacting samsung right now to discuss solutions, repairs and etc. if they quote me some stupid price or say that im SOL then......

*UPDATE
samsung says to ship it to them (gave me label for free 2 day air back and forth) and they gonna try to software flash it back (lol doubt that works) if not, worst case scenario- they will try a hardware replacement(motherboard or some shyt the tech guy said to me- which replaces the IMEI too he says) with this option the usual cost is about $70USD

so now, considering that.............. what do you guys think? $70 bucks to get my shyt up and running (which i love this phone brehs) or drop close to $400USD for that nexus 5?

-buy a nexus 4 now
-wait for nexus 5

what would you guys do? either way its RIP to my wallet, coupled with my recent PC upgrade=OUCH

Do both. The repaired phone you could sell for at least $150, copped the new phone.

The IMEI # is somewhere on the phone (battery area maybe?) and I'm pretty sure there's a way to put it back on there if you want to have a look on Google.

Considering you wrecked it through recovery somehow I think you might be better off just copping a newer phone. Though at this point, giving a try won't hurt.

nah fam i been through everything imaginable. trust, i aint new to anything droid related

most recovery methods require a untouched

/data/radio
or
/factory

so you can copy the undamaged one to the damaged one but both in my case, both were wiped during my custom recovery ventures so basically rendering IMEI lost in the wind....

im hoping samsung has a deeper level software flash than what the normal end user can get their hands on or else its up to their mobo(clean new imei) replacement
