Am I the only one who is tired of seeing RIP posts and then when they tag the person and you go to their page, they're pointing guns, throwing up gang signs and the middle finger? Then the comments are always people saying "Oh I can't believe this happened to ______"

Maybe I just have a lot of hood folks on my list because this is becoming a norm on my timeline.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying the family/friends shouldn't mourn or that their life doesn't matter.

This latest one I saw people mentioning on Snapchat and FB and I'm thinking another innocent person murked in the city? Then I clicked on the tag and one of the first few pics was dude with an extendo in his jeans throwing up his set.

I'm not saying their life is worthless and that people shouldn't mourn because of course I would mourn if a family member of mine ventured out and ended up dying because of it. I just keep seeing dudes younger than me, born in the 90s, dying over a lifestyle that they are glorifying on social networking and in real life. It sucks to see it over and over.

Paying tribute to the deceased is a ritual that's been repeated since the inaugural last breath.
