Shorter was one of my favorite jazz musicians next to Hutchison, Byrd, and Sun Ra. Dude had this dark cadence that was made for the jazz scene. I remember when Robert Glasper mentioned how Speak No Evil was an underground hip hop album, and he was so spot on. The album came out of nowhere and it was majestic. The album cover alone screams an underground hip hop cover:
Folks used to compare him to Coltrane which kinda piss me off because he was way different with the tunes. He was a standout type of guy. Sadly, never got the respect he thrived for because "Miles and em", but dude was one of the GOATs to me.
I'm broken tonight brehs. I know EVERY note of Dance Cadaverous. Him and the young Herbie gave Miles 'The God' Davis that youth and forever changed music!
I know Uncle was sick for a while but he truly was a pioneer.
RIP to a legend.
