I honestly feel like 12-20 hours is the perfect length for a campaign.

Once I put more than 20 hours into a campaign I just start getting bored.

The funny thing about these open world games is theyre really funn for 5-10 hours and then at that point you realize youll just be doing the same shyt over and over and over and over to pad game length.

Just look at say skyrim. Ive never seen so many reused npcs, dialogue and locations in a game. How is it fun to explore when the areas and people just keep repeating ad nauseum? Just so you can say the game is long?

I honestly dont get the appeal.

The art of creating a tighly paced campaign is almost lost these days.

To see someone say they skipped tlou whos campaign is almost flawless just to play some rpg that has you doing fetch quests and collecting orbs is

lol 8-15 hours is the standard for linear action games. W3 is 100 hours yeah but you spend 50 of those hours just on walking back and forth to npcs and locations. Tons of time spent on filler that makes the game longer. Tomb Raider's level design and gameplay shyts on W3's too. W3 has nice writing though. :troll:

...level design? Wtf are you talking about? Have you even played TW3?

Yes I have, and its mission areas are just a bunch of pathways/corridors/caves with not much thought put into them. They just throw a marker on your map/compass and you just follow it. The focus is on making the environments look pretty, that's about it. Each area in TR is intricately designed to take advantage of the gameplay mechanics and enemy AI, and they're designed to be fun to navigate.

Witcher 3's environments only serve as a means to make you travel to an NPC or marker. That's why combat encounters usually just take place in a circular room/open space (easy to do) and that's also why climbing/platforming in W3 is absolutely trash.

the people complaining about 15-20 hours being short are trippin. that's enough time for an adventure game if the storyline, controls and gameplay are on point. gotta think about quality over quantity. I don't want an adventure game where i'll spend 25-30% of the game time roaming around a map and dragging time just getting to my destination, unless it's an RPG/open world game like final fantasy, GTA or fallout with constant action/activities, and even then the game has to be a good one to keep me interested.
