Album was lacking for me and trying to do too much. The first iteration of the series was perfect. Everything afterwards just seemed like it was trying to capture the magic of the first jawn

Yeah, that's how I felt about the series. The first album felt like an ole to black excellence and a celebration of black music from soul to rock (Jazz version of "Smells like Teen Spirit"). The last two albums just felt like it was missing something. Like it lacked the feeling of celebration, but more so embracing lightening in a bottle.
