I have never even consciously made the decision to listen to a Madlib joint...I only know dude by name and because of The Coli...

I love my hip hop with prominent drums...That cut and paste looping with no break beat is type corny...There is VERY LITTLE skill involved in that kind production...All credit should be given to the original composers...

There's a skill involved in finding samples and making them into a whole other sound

i wasn't sure about that style of beats, just loops, minimal or no drums at all but i've grown to like it. the first time i really noticed it as a new style (different to the old looping style in the 90s) was the Alchemist x Fashawn joint The Antidote. Alc had drums in there for the most part but only as part of the OG loop, but that uses pretty well known & well used loops like Nautilus. i know it takes skill to find the right loop but i just wasn't sure about having a whole album or majority of it with no drums.
