Rock Band 4 Announced For PS4, Xbox One

It's been rumored for a long time now, but today the news is finally official: Rock Band is coming back.
Developer Harmonix is working with hardware manufacturer Mad Catz to bring Rock Band 4 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by the end of 2015, the two companies announced today.
That's exciting news for plastic instrument aficionados, as is this: Harmonix says their goal is to make the game backwards compatible with every Rock Band guitar and drum set you might have thrown in your basement or garage since the series launched in 2007. They're aiming to let you carry over all of your old DLC songs, too.

Kinda wondering how well this will do when you got games like Rocksmith incorporating the real thing as opposed to plastic instruments :lupe:

If you're a drummer, you can use your electric drum sets. Did that with RB3 and had the time of my life....no idea on guitars though

Rocksmith uses real guitars. Rockband needs to have actual button presses for input. That's why a drum kit could work. You're essentially hitting buttons with sticks.

It's like asking if people will buy an arcade racer cause there's SIM racers out there...it's for a different audience...more casual...people will flock to it...

This is good news. Especially the part about working with old equipment. I've been trying to offload my old RB stuff for a while but Gamestop wouldn't take it. Now that there may be a demand for some cheap equipment, someone might take mine for a few bucks.
