This was interesting to me because it goes against some of the info that's been out there on what guys were getting paid around that time., info from Meltzer and other people that probably wasn't accurate. According to the info that's been out there, Rock wasn't making that kind of money until his movie career started, but when you look at how much money WWF was bringing in at the time, Rock making 15 mil in a yr through merch etc is very believable.

This man heard a wrestler sit down and talk numbers and believed him :mjlol:

Aside from random payslips and anecdotes - this is the only real concrete information on grand scale we have for what people were making at any period of time

Go look at what Hulk/Savage/Nash/Bret/Goldberg were making and figure the top WWF guys were making less, because we know WCW deals > WWF from the same era.

For context - if The Rock made $15m a year in 2000, he'd have made just about as much as Shaq did on the Lakers that year at $17m, and would have been one of the 15 highest earning athlwtes in the world in any sport.

This guy would have then stopped doing that to make considerably less money doing movies for ten years until Fast exploded :dead:

Dude was a top star and was everywhere during that era...I don't know if he took it all home but he could of made it before taxes, road expenses, etc;

I can also see that being one of the key things that got him taking Hollywood more serious.

And even this you can't really compare to WWF at the time due to the fact most of those major contracts were deals with Time Warner plus they didn't do nearly as many house shows. The number seems like it could be logical since IIRC Austin had neck surgery in the summer of 1999 that kept him out of action for an extended period of time, which Rock slid back into #1 face.

I don't know about a Top Star. He had a name, but he didn't truly take off until Fast Five in 2011. There were a lot of box office bombs with him as the lead, and several of the movies that made money were ones where he wasn't in the lead (i.e. The Other Guys, Get Smart, Be Cool).

Rock is saying he made 1 mil guaranteed and was presented a path to make 15 mil in a yr by Vince. That's counting EVERYTHING. Shaq on the Lakers' salary was 17 mil, he obviously made a lot more than that with all his endorsements. Rock is saying his SALARY was 1 mil.

That link can't be accurate. Ric Flair making 20k in 1999? Goldberg making 500k in 1998? Those numbers are claiming to be all inclusive and not just salary, and there's no way.

It's well established that WCWs guaranteed money was bigger than the WWF guys. With merch though? Austin in 1998 or 99, Rock in 2000 generated more money than any WCW guy ever, easily. So if Hogan had 5+ million dollar yrs, Rock getting in the 8 figure range in 2000 as a bigger star with WWFs merch machine doesn't sound that crazy

:manny:I mean the late 90s and 2000s were a boom period for entertainers in general. Wrestlers were eating off of the success of WWF and Turner not checking their crackhouse.

So I'm not even surprised that Rock was eating good along with the rest of the main eventers. Hell, even Mikey Whipwreck was eating.

Numbers we know are 100% real because they're from WCW's racial discrimination lawsuit. :pachaha:

As I said - believing a wrestler talking about numbers. :dead:

The Rock would have been one of the 15 highest paid athletes in the world and then quit to make 10x less money for a decade :dead:

You can't make it make sense

I am glad I started ranting.

The conditions these nikkaz agreed to work was bullshyt.

I was very vocal about how they were being cheated.

Even as an underground rapper.
I had a rider, road mileage reimbursement, and a hotel and accommodations already bundled as a pre-req.

At significantly lower gates and I am the protege to the headliner.

Glad I put the word out. To help change entertainment and wrasslin from my day job of making this internet bullshyt profitable. So you nikkaz could fight with your words and thoughts to make change.

Plus get scourges out of the paint fron puff to vince.

Witness the power of street knowledge.
