None of the tracks are sticking. Lonely road was cool but a bit of a slow burn. Then he dropped a track for the F1 soundtrack, good track, but didnt have much staying power.

The album seems to be done, i think his team doesn't have a roll out strategy.

I had no idea he even released any singles, so your right :francis:

His time in the limelight is up, he may as well just release it the moment he is waiting for isn't coming.

it's not about the music

bro relationship with clout & fame won't work in this era

he needs to focus on the real money behind the scenes because he obviously doesn't want to chase the spotlight

I really thought he had next after The Box blew up and was battling with legit CAC Pop Stars for #1 on Billboard...

It was all good just a week ago :mjcry:

That record dropped in 2019 :mjlol:

There’s no buzz or interest in his music and he on a major and they know he’s going to flop and don’t want to spend behind his rollout so it gets pushed back till he has a record they can push.

Signing to a major kills a lot of these dudes careers. He made millions during that run he had with The Box and lost his hunger

Kinda think he made a mistake going with Terrace Martin to oversee the album instead of someone like Mustard. Labels hate when "the jazz guy" is involved in anything. Epic fought Michael Jackson on hiring Quincy Jones for the same reason. But Quincy understood the main goal was making catchy music (especially singles) and provided that, alongside the jazzier musicianship. I seems like Terrace doesn't really care about singles and I think that's hurting the situation. At the same time...apparently Roddy has also done something with Mustard so maybe breh is just making wack shyt lol.

I find it really weird that none of these west coast guys took advantage of the summer or called Mustard for a smash. Chike, Roddy...they should have been dropped their shyt. Now we're getting close to when Kendrick is ALLEGEDLY dropping again, which will shut rap music down, yet they want to release in that window lmao.

I'll never take a pop at an artist identifying and then trying to make better music, so I commend this apparent choice to allow Terrace to oversee the production.

I fukk with Terrace and commend anyone going left. But Roddy's career is on the line here...he needs a hit. This could be a wrap if this doesn't get it done.

I'm no idealist, I understand that he's signed to a major and that music is also a business, but I think a good body of work will do his career more of a service than a hit. A hit will buy him some time, but good (or better) music will do more for his perception and true longevity than a hit.

And whoever was making the decision to pair him with Terrace probably understands that too, which is probably why that left-field move happened in the first place. I don't know if it was a Roddy decision or someone else, I don't know much about him or who is around him.

But I do understand and see where you're coming from, though. I just don't agree.
