Kinda think he made a mistake going with Terrace Martin to oversee the album instead of someone like Mustard. Labels hate when "the jazz guy" is involved in anything. Epic fought Michael Jackson on hiring Quincy Jones for the same reason. But Quincy understood the main goal was making catchy music (especially singles) and provided that, alongside the jazzier musicianship. I seems like Terrace doesn't really care about singles and I think that's hurting the situation. At the same time...apparently Roddy has also done something with Mustard so maybe breh is just making wack shyt lol.

I find it really weird that none of these west coast guys took advantage of the summer or called Mustard for a smash. Chike, Roddy...they should have been dropped their shyt. Now we're getting close to when Kendrick is ALLEGEDLY dropping again, which will shut rap music down, yet they want to release in that window lmao.

part of it is because Mustard himself couldn't take advantage of it when he dropped. I enjoyed his last project but nothing came of it.

The ones who DID boost their visibility a bit after the Pop Out

JasonMartin
Lefty Gunplay
Az Chike (in the sense that he got a deal)

I would lump Jay Worthy in with them but Jay Worthy been making moves (side note: Once Upon A Time didn't need to be 2 CD's, but shorten it to 1 and he woulda had a real solid project)

From a mainstream standpoint, we asked too much from a region that doesn't give a shyt about blowing up on that level. As long as their visibility allows them to do shows and make indie paper, they're happy.

AZ Chike, has been running. Soon as that pop out happened, hes been hungry.

Dropping his single next week and got a Tyler feature on his album.

Roddy gotta either gotta just drop, or keep dropping singles and seeing what sticks.

Yeah, he needs to do a proper rollout for this. I’m guessing he’s probably going to scrap whatever the album that he had initially put up on Apple Music and he might just start over.

But it’s clear someone in the camp doesn’t feel comfortable with the project.
