Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Boston and New England brothers speak on it. I know Farahkhan grew up there after moving away from The Bronx.

How’s the area?
How bad hasn’t gentrification taken over?
Is it more than 40% black today?
Are most of the blacks there from the Carolinas/Virginia?

Alot of gentrification going on in Fort Hill. I see white folks living there life out here. It's still a majority black neighborhood though. All our murals and art still decorates the neighborhood. Black Jesus statue still stands even though white folks are living around the statue. Dudley Square is still cracking with new development. Tropical Market has a brand new beautiful building. It's looking good out here in terms of business. The fiends and homeless folks along Melnea Cass is crazy though. That's Boston's very own skid row.

Lots of development. Still Black, but I see more and more White joggers, which means they are feeling safe and increasing in numbers. I saw a gang of them joggers by the Mosque just care free. Hopefully, Black people retain their ownership and don't just give the neighborhoods back. Let us reap the benefits of the improvements.

I work for COMPASS (for now) and this thread came up cause I saw some expensive properties on their website for the Boston market in Roxbury.

There’s a lot of West Indians tthere. Got cousins that live in North Roxbury. One is married to a Haitian. Another is dating one. Farrakhan was a Christian before he became Muslim. My family attended St. Cyprian, which is the church Farrakhan grew up at.

Developers stay trying to get black folks to sell their properties. These are old architectures with details and materials that would take fortunes to replicate these days. I'm a real estate broker and I tell them not to sell unless they're parlaying the money into a bigger business venture. Otherwise should be renovating and keeping the property up. When they sell developers will just renovate and hike prices astronomically and the make up of the neighborhood will change completely. Granted if you are improving an apartment building rent increases are expected but not gouging!

Another thing that has occurred is large amounts of college students seeking cheap housing started moving into the neighborhood 2008-now. Each year rents continue to rise because of this.

Seems like the area also has a lot of Afro latino types just like the actual Harlem also.

I only familiar with Matterpan since I have family there.
Black folks from across the diaspora breh.

Yea Boston and NYC pretty much have the exact same black diasporas except Boston has the Cape Verdeans and NY probably has a higher concentration of Douglas.

Boston neighborhoods of color are very diverse. Though we are mostly condensed into a few locations- Dorchester, Roxbury, J.P.. etc. Great place if you have knowledge of self and want to take advantage of opportunities. Not so great if you want All Black or a lot of optionf for Middle to Upper clack mostly Black living.

What’s a middle class neighborhood in Boston that is black? Names?

I guess an equivalent to Southeast Queens?

From what I saw in matterpan it didn’t look like a middle class area, or at least the section I went to.
