Nine days ago, DJ Premier and Royce Da 5'9" appeared together in a brief video that hinted at a joint project entitled "PRhyme." Now, the duo have confirmed that a joint album is on the way and have revealed plans for several high-profile features.

The PRhyme album will be entirely produced by Premo, with sample contributions from Adrian Younge (who recently produced albums byGhostface Killah and The Souls Of Mischief). Killer Mike, Jay Electronica, Common, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Slaughterhouse, Mac Miller and Dwele will all appear on the project.

Both spoke to XXL about the album, with Royce saying "“I want people to appreciate the fact that we didn’t compromise in lieu of the environment. In order to try to change the way that people digest music, we had to take a leap of faith.” Premo added “The bar has to be high. For this album to be another body of work and another chapter for both of our lives.”

This is the first time DJ Premier will release a full length collaborative project since he was in Gang Starr.

This is NOT the first full collaborative record since Gan Starr. Oh, right, the Blaq Poet & Bumpy Knuckles albums has like 4 beats by other producers between the two of them.

I'd be more excited about this if I didn't detest Royce Da 5'9" mostly.

I'm not a Royce fan so this doesn't excite me, would have preferred that KRS/Premo album. But as a Hip Hop head will check it out due to Premo.

If you hate on Royce da 5'9" as a rapper that's far as an opinion but you haven't listened to him enough outside of what your typical Em/Slaughterhouse fan boy might show you.

He really is a top tier rapper... can't say I so much give a shyt about DJ Premier cause I've been over him for many years now but it should be something to listen to.

I own every single Royce album. Remember when DJ Premier executive produced 'Street Hop' and he still delivered an uneven album? Me too. I'm sure with Preem on board 100% this will easily be his best album but Royce can keep all that aggro, yellin' ass rappin' he loves so much. If he reigns it in and makes songs on par with 'shake This' it could be dope.

:russ: you're right about the aggro rap lmao... in fact I agree with your statement 100%... he doesn't make the best tracks which is truth - but a focused Royce on the mic is hard to tussle with. Hopefully this one comes through though.
