Royce frequently abandons "Structure" in favor of flow.
If anything, I think he's a very dope blend of a flow focused rapper who employs structure.

This verse is a pretty damn good example of that imo.

For an example of those extremes look at Big Daddy Kane vs. say Kool G Rap or in a more contemporary context Wale vs. Elzhi.

Structure takes precedence in the latter focusing on repeating rhythms and having each line as close to each other as possible while the form will throw structure to the wind as long as the flow fits the beat properly.

What is nickel structure? I don't get what you mean just from reading the verse

well i means in terms of meter u can just look at the amount of syllables in the verse and use a online dictionary to see the order of the stress patterns

and if u know how to count bars u can just count from to 1-4

each line is a bar so the begining of the bar is the first word and the end of the bar is the last word of the bar

so the begining of the bar within the bar and at the end of the bar

royce usually does the internal end rhyme
internal end rhyme in multisyllabic format type of rhyme

but royce also likes to mixup mid bar never does a fixed verse.

royce rarely does a fixed verse in terms of flow

like royce will a use trochee stress pattern one second

but then uses mis matching syllables in a line that does not fit the syllable count in the previous line and what u supposed to for that meter

Is that what nickel structure is? Why do they call it that?

The Windy City
i've known this since i got into him in 04. After i heard "Death Is Certain" out of curiosity when it first came out, i knew right then and there he was the 2nd greatest rapper i have ever heard. Personal GOAT that people laughed at me for years finally hearing what i heard back then.

well the first part is called meter

it is how u arrange the syllables in a line

whenever u use stress and unstressed syllables u develop a rhythmic structure that's called meter in a poetry context

and counting bars in rap is called music theory

third part is just rhyme scheme.

That's exactly what I mean.

Structure isn't his focus and he still comes hard as anyone else doing it.

Royce :wow:
