The last episode just showed that Ruff Ryders saved Def Jam from getting crushed by Puff Daddy’s Badboy records.

Puff had Def Jam (Russell and Lyor) facing extinction in 96-98. He single handedly had them up on the ropes. Puff misread the market and his ego played a role in him releasing RnB in 98 (112, Total, Faith) and a greatest hits album when rap had its biggest selling year ever.

If Puff would of release Mase, Dep, Shyne and Black Rob in 98 with another Lox album he may of had a better chance of riding the wave instead of waiting for The year 2000.
