and i'm always quick to bring up M$ is dogshyt when it comes to exclusives.

We know PS4 is the "exclusive" console. Sony really is amazing when it comes to producing great titles for their platform. M$ is iffy and most of their games are on PC anyway.

But when it comes to multiplats they're almost always better on PC by far. It's almost night and day. Some of the best games last gen were just that much better on PC. Arkham City, Fallout Series, etc.

The thing with this Steambox is to hopefully get people to open up to gaming with better features, graphics, performance in games without all the nickle and diming that consoles put people through. But also the people that are already down with them have something they can mess around with for a good price. If Valve can put a good campaign behind it then maybe it will succeed.

Right now though people are fine with what a console can give them but that price point could open up some eyes

the typical console owner who plays madden call of duty won't be playing world of warcraft

that being said those games do sell well i just can't fathom how people really are interested in games like world of warcraft other than them really just not having a life in any capacity

how are people that play WoW any different from those that play COD or whatever all day every day?

yeah, if it's just going to produce the best multiplatform games, that's also a decent selling point. i want to see some graphic comparisons to the ps4

Exactly. I got "Bioshock: Infinite" for $7 the other day. "Arkham Origins" for $25, the day it came out.

so pc gamers only invade console threads when there's tech talk? it seems like pc users are constantly on a hunt to sell console gamers on playing the way they play. typical argument goes something like:

console head: check out this new game

pc gamer: it's going to look better on PC

console head: that's cool

pc gamer: why don't you join the PC Master race?

console head: because i like gaming on a console

pc gamer: peasant

console head: i like playing on my couch, with a controller, on my tv

pc gamer: you can plug your computer up to your tv, you can use your console controllers on PC

console head: just leave me alone


pc gamer: nah why wont you join the PC master race

console head: its...too.. complicated?

i dont do console gaming, but i game on PC since I use it for everything (work related, etc). I think the PC experience gotta include self customization, building it yourself and whatnot. I will keep an eye out for benefits associated with it, but I dont think I will ever cop a stand alone gaming machine again

That's basically like saying you don't have a rap career unless you sign to a major. Meanwhile people like Tech N9ne are living in mansions and riding around in paid off Bentleys, completely independent of what is popular in mainstream rap.

You're operating on the assumption that they need any of that to succeed. They don't. They don't need to convince consoles gamers of anything. The ones that are interested in something like this, have been for years.

Here's the thing: this isn't intended to "take out" Sony or MS. If a gaming platform needed "Gears of War" or "Madden" to flourish PC gaming in general wouldn't exist....Steam wouldn't have 65 million users....Valve would be bankrupt because there would be no market. There being a market to sustain Valve, and Steam, to the tune of $3 billion, should be a big ass clue there's a market for Steambox.

There doesnt need to be a Madden or Gears for a particular platform to exist. But when you are trying to convince people who are fans of those particular games to jump to a different platform there has to be a Gears or Madden equivalent. PC gaming exists because there is a market for PC games.
