I been screaming this on here forever, lol.

All that sh!t is just marketing, them numbers fake and gas to make the artist seem bigger than what they are so fans will think they're a big deal and still buy the merch and the album and the tickets, etc... All fugazi

Of course labels are inflating the DSP's with fake streams. They're the only ones getting paid from them.

Artists aren't making sh*t from the streams. The labels are literally paying to boost the numbers to boost their own pockets. They had to find a way to make consistent bread. Today, it's in the streaming for them.

Record sales have largely always been fake …before sound-scan in the 90s they were counting albums shipped as a apart of the criteria for plaque certifications. That’s why I say those venues don’t lie when these nikkas hit the road… :manny:

pretty much. It takes 1500 streams to equal 1 sale. Some of these artists have 3 million sales. that means it's 4.5 billion streams off that album. I'm not saying it's impossible, but in the time period some of these artists are going "gold" 750 million streams is looking kind of suspect.. but hey, if they are happy, I'm happy for them. All I know is that these streaming services are making BILLIONS per month off subscribers and paying out millions to the artists and labels

Record labels today are glorified managers. It used to be you'd need a record label to get your music in stores and a MANAGER could get you shows and endorsements(labels would often fund big tours though). Since music stores no longer exists and physical sales are a thing of the past, why are people signing record deals? 360 deals!!! So you sign with a record deal to get your music on streaming platforms(that you can do from your own home by yourself) and then they get you shows and tours along with a piece of everything you do. If you so much as have a yard sale and make $300k from it or start a business, legally they are contracted to get a piece of it.

Exactly.

It's gotten to the point now where if you sign with any of these companies, you're just asking to be in debt and paying them damn near everything you make, forever. And they make sure to hit every dime you make. No matter where it's from.
