U.S. official: Russia launches first Syria airstrike
Last night, Russia conducted its first air strike in Syria targeting an unknown group located to the north of Syria's capital where Isis does not have a stronghold .Dozens of military analyst believe, the area is populated by the doctors, lawyers along with engineers who are oppose to Assad's power in Syria.

Russia's goal is to try an reestablish the old Soviet Union with as many countries as possible which explains why they have such a huge military buildup in Syria at this point. Having a military base in Syria, allows Russia to respond Saudi Arabia's attacks, Israel's attacks, along with whoever else tries to establish a foothold in the region.

.
Wrong.

They conducted their first strikes in Homs. Homs isn't ISIS turf but there are radical jihadist terrorists operating in the Homs district. This is just the starts. Nato and their allies have been bombing ISIS for months yet ISIS has been advancing :jbhmm:. I wonder how?

Damn though, we have Nato, USB and allies plus Russia both flying in the same skies of Syria. Something big is definitely happening behind the scenes

Theres posters out here who seriously support Putin's view of the world while trying to shame the US's history in the region, as if Putin and others won't try to fill that void.

Thats why I unilaterally support US hegemony in the sense that I don't want to see others win.

Homs might be north of the Capital but it isn't considered northern region more like central.

There is no ISIS in Homs but there is no difference between the ideology and mannerism of Al Nursa Front and ISIS. There is and never was moderate rebels in Syria.

Not exactly, the Russians are more concerned with their Eurasian economic project with their partnership with the Chinese. Iran is at the center of it which is why both China and Russia pushed so hard for the Iran deal.

Putin has guaranteed that there will be no airstrikes against the Assad forces by the West. He is arranging a coalition to fight ISIS and has invited the US and everyone else to join. Moscow has support the Assad regime since the 1970s. Their only base in the Middle East is in the Assad strongholds of Latakiya and Tartus.

The increased Russian activity is due to thier expansion of the airbase in Latakiya and Tartus as well as retraining of the Syrian army and equiping it with the proper weapons for counter insurgency. They are doing this with the SU-25, gunships, more apcs and ifv's.

The Syrian army which was hiding alot of their assets for fear of western air attacks is now concentrating them for a major escalation. There is already a massive increase in Iranian troops on the ground, they no longer need to hide from airstrikes and do maskirovka like building fake airfields, plastic tanks and armored vehicles... they can now concentrate forces too.

The accuracy of Syrian army artillary has been increasing exponentially as they get real time GPS/Glosnass and data link from drones and aircraft.

They say they bombing ISIS . ISIS aint their main problem . They wanna get rid of FSA first
I expect Assad to leave ISIS alone in the east and concentrate on strategic regions. Al Nusra will not exist in the next few months, and alot of other groups will be exterminated or run away and join ISIS.

Without western intervention there is little Saudi or Qatar can do.

Assad is terrible but the fact that the opposition is so fragmented means the US really doesn't have a big partner on the ground and the money/weapons that were sent hasn't been used properly. It's such a cluster.

What is the alternative after Assad goes? Do you know what happened to Libya after MOMAR Khadafi was overthrown?

Will we see the same results?

An unstable country with multiple groups fighting for power is not what America needs AGAIN.So when you say the U.S should win in Syria, what does that leave us with? Something like Libya?

fukk outta here.

Stop spliting hairs.

The area that was bombed by Russia was north of the capital where no Isis fighters have a stronghold. The air strike targeted members of the Syrian freedom fighters or some type of opposition group opposed to President Assad.
