He hasn't won a Big 10 championship in 4 years. You can get into the playoffs without beating TTUN, but a loss to them makes the championship much harder to win.

There's the pride factor but a win over them has utility. Especially when they are good.
He just won a National Championship last night. I think he'll be fine.

It seems like Michigan-Ohio State is more important than a National Championship :patrice:

This is one reason college rivalries annoy me. Got bum ass nikkas talking about: "I don't care about the 9 losses, we beat our rival! We good!"

No, you're not "good." You root for a bum ass squad who were lucky enough to play a team (that you despise for no reason aside from indoctrination) who's just as bum ass as yours, or they're better but decided to play down to your bum ass level that day.

Treating rivalries as some be-all, end-all for your season when you couldn't even become Bowl eligible is some Copium for Losers type shıt. :unimpressed:

I was actually gonna make a thread that the new CFP and OSU winning has/will make Michigan -OSU irrelevant.

It’s like game of telephone the newer crowd is going thru the motions with this whole ‘the only game that matters!’. But that’s bc before, there was a good chance 1 of the teams was playing for a national title/bcs/cfp birth. Ie If this was last year, that loss would have cost OSU a playoff birth

Now? With 12 teams getting in who cares?! For a 0 or 1 loss OSU/UM team the game becomes pointless and actually could be a punishment. Yea, go ahead and win OSU/UM so you get a chance to play a top ranked Oregon/PSU the next week. And maybe even go play each other again! Yes, bc they got rid of divisions, in those years where both UM-OSU are elite, it will already be decided that the title game will be OSU-Michigan regardless of the ‘big game’ winner.

OR….sit your starters, lose, and be rested for a title run. Of course no team is going to do that, but the fact that it makes sense is enough to diminish the game.

You're missing the point.

Unless he goes on a Saban type run, the minimum he'll have to do is win Big 10 championships consistently. And it's much harder to do that when you take the L to TTUN.

Some of you need a serious reality check. A natty is eternal immortality (unless you’re Gene Chisick)

fukk a ‘but did you beat Michigan’. That shyt corny

Are you nikkas retarded or something?

He won the natty this season. He's good for this season. Just.

But unless he wins the natty every season, he can't get away with losing a game of that magnitude. Especially when, apart from bragging rights and tradition, losing that game hurts our chances of winning the Big 10 championship. It remains an important game, the most important one in the calendar, unless we are in the big 10 championship or the natty championship.

Day just won a National Championship without doing what you said. The rivalry game only matters to Michigan and Ohio State fans.

Look how long it took Jim Harbaugh to beat Ohio State. Ryan day is 1-4 against Michigan now. They both won a National Championship. Again, only Michigan and Ohio State fans care about the rivalry game. You play to win championships.

I'm an Ohio State fan. What are you talking about

He was in hell before this natty (buys him some breathing space). Especially after the game against those guys. You think he can go another 4 years with no natty, and no Big 10 championship, and no rivalry win, and survive? Especially after what gets spent?

They conveniently gloss over this cuz creh won a chip lol.

Winners get to write history and 20-30 years from now, yeah, they'll talk about 4 straight L's but they'll talk about the chip more. They'll talk about Sawyer scoop and score more.

The rivalry is the rivalry, ain't nobody denying that. But, pan back, and the shyt gets talked about in chunks, but them chips/rings last forever and we got some new hardware to add to da Woody...
