You'd think now, 30 years later that the technology we have would be able to extract something from that disc drive. I'd have never thrown it out and kept hope alive if I was Deck.It would behilariousglorious if there was a secret copy of the og uncontrolled substance floppy disc drive somewhere that emerged.
There are only 2 RZA beats on Substance. And a third RZA collab.
I didn't hear the others. That one sounds like only keyboard no sample main melodies
What's stopping RZA from making a whole Deck album now?
fukk sample clearance. Have it leaked.
Or pay for the samples and still profit.
Steps
1.Rza uses only break beats
2. RZA picks only Of Wu era samples up to the 70s.
3. No keyboard main melodies
4. All Wu members
5. Cool photos and album art
I'm in no way a person to say what they should do.
I'm just saying it's possible.
I'm hoping RZA got some ish still in the vault from 93-98 that he's going to drop some day. I'd rather hear whatever unreleased ish there is from their prime tbh.
They always bring up the flood. But that's an excuse. And not a good one.
Pete Rock, Q-Tip, Premier, Erick Sermon, etc, have all had floods and fires, and rebuilt and made classic sh*t.
None of that is gonna stop you from being able to cook up a classic, if you're one of the greats. Mef claims his original version of Tical was "the one", as an excuse for why the retail sounded rushed and didn't live up to expectations. But then went on to make another 6 weak albums. So I'm not sure the flood sh*t is even true.
I think RZA comes up with the flood thing whenever people don’t like the music that comes out. HAHA! He said there was a flood in '94, but that he had all the group and solo albums done. But then he said that he lost 300 beats and "everything" in it. But then that would include OB4CL, Liquid Swords, Dirty's album, Ironman, etc. Then he said he had ANOTHER flood after Forever.
So it seems like whenever the music isn't good, RZA just had a flood right before that.

It's not just the flood, it's the timing as well. Some moments can't be recaptured. What happened in that moment could've been magical, and trying to mimic it probably didn't work. You hear artists trying to remake their own song with the same formula all if the time, and it doesn't workThey always bring up the flood. But that's an excuse. And not a good one.

Nah people forget it was not just one but TWO floods that fukked up a bunch of music RZA had for the crew.
