Above the fray.
RZA got some verses that can stand up with some of the best verses from GOAT level MCs.
he is not even considered among the top 3 rappers in his own group, though

I've yet to meet a person who said the rza was the best rapper in the Wutang Clan

in fact, it's hard to pick a group song where rza had the best verse. take impossible for example....great rza verse......they threw u-god on there for some reason, and then ghost comes through to drop one of the most vivid heartfelt verses in rap history.......to the point where you forgot that rza was on the song

This is nonsense. All 3 had great verses. One amazing verse doesn't erase the rest

Never said RZA was a Top 3 rapper on the Wu. He isn't. But saying he isn't ain't even a knock on him. That's how talented the Wu are and why they're the GOAT group. Saying one of their MCs ain't one of the top 3 in that group is like saying a player isn't one of the Top 3 best players on the Yankees.

And RZA definitely had the best verse on some Wu group tracks. Take Better Tomorrow off Forever for example:

Y'all bytches love dances, and pullin' down your pants
While your man's on tour, your spendin' up his advances
Your friends ain't shyt, all they do is drink, smoke, and suck dikk
The whole projects is trapped in six
You either high school drop-outs, one to three cop-outs
Fifteen years old, shorty ass and top out
Ninety-nine cent beer drinkin', p*ssy stinkin'
fukkin' so much your ass and titties start shrinkin'
New World Order slave trade, minimum wage, Medicaid
Can a devil fool a Muslim nowadays?
Inside my lab, I'm goin' mad
Took two drags off the blunt, and started breakin' down the flag
The blue is for the Crips, the red is for the Bloods
The white's for the cops, and the stars come from the clubs

Or the slugs that ignites through the night, by the dawn early light
Why is sons fightin' for the stripe?

first off I've never negged anybody before, but for writing that Ugod's verse was great.....I was tempted to neg you on GP

Second Ghost's style when he closes out songs is so powerful that he overshadows even the greatest verses. I mentioned a few days ago in a "Verbal Intercourse" thread that Nas' verse was sick, but Ghost spazzed out at the end, to the point where I forgot about Nas' verse

On Impossible, he blacked out again

"1-718-911 damn,low battery
blood coming out his mouth, he's bleeding badly"

COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wu tang is loaded with all time great talent, and in a lot of songs when RZA had a crazy verse ghost tended to show up and rip shyt up too.

But cmon bro, you tellin me RZA didn't win 4th Chamber? Ghost spazzed on that one too but RZA went OFF

The truth is RZA has a lot more great verses than a lot of rappers people put above him. Obivously as a solo artist he has definciencies in that he cant really do popular music, but due could SPIT better than most

edit- and lets not forget how he went off on Assasination day. Yeah Deck killed the first verse but RZA did his thing

I stop producers careers the weak spot was the ears

No doubt. The biggest thing IMO that kept RZA from being as appreciated as he should is his flow. And I don't wanna get flamed for this, because even GZA clowned RZA a little bit in a public interview for having a sort of jerky and not smooth flow.

If RZA had cleaned up the flow a little bit I really think he'd be mentioned more as one of the best rappers, because the bars were there.

classic offbeat raps*
Exactly.
