I’ve never had it, but usually yes it’s debilitating pain. Anything with the pancreas usually really fukking hurts, to an extreme

Acute pancreatitis is painful, its the pain that brings people to the hospital. Most recover without significant long term consequences but severe acute pancreatitis its can kill. By the time someone gets necrotizing pancreatitis they are sedated and intubated with bunch of tube draining the fluid around the pancreas +/- surgery. The last few patients I saw with necrotizing pancreatitis did not make it out of the hospital.

Sedated patients can still have random uncontrolled movement. The hand wrap prevents them from pulling out any of the wiring and tubings on/in them.
