Reasons why.
-NY is more Disney world now
-Too many white people and gentrification
-Latino infiltration

There will never be another wutang.

I've never heard of this person I'm my life.

Nas and Wutang got a concert in September. Gonna see that though.

I know this thread was probably made in jest, but it ain’t far from the truth. Every time there’s a southern rapper or style viewed as trash, NY comes through with a clearly worse version but ends up rallying behind them because of the view that there’s no hot NY artists. They dissed Future but were supporting Desiigner :mjlol: :hhh:

And remember CJ??? Lmaooo

I just look at what NY has produced in the last maybe 10 to 15 yrs. You got a dyke bytch, a n word spewing rainbow head snitch Mexican and..... I dunno who else bro..

I then listen to NY radio and the once black radios is playing Spanish music. Them Spanish radio stations ain't never fukked with anything black promoted on their radio stations but somehow they blending both cultures.

NY used to be grimey and the pain and struggle felt in the hiphop along with black music creativity. NY is living off the fumes of past glory, it's no hype, it's no clout. If a nikka tell me now they from NY I'm like "so...? I would keep that to myself homie and get the fukk out my face". I say this to say that's what's missing from the NY sound which was global. I can't put my finger on what that sound is without referencing past musical accolades

Pop rap seems to be declining.

I have hope that Classic Hip Hop can have a resurgence. It may never be the top genre again, but people still make Jazz, Blues and Classical in 2023, so we shall survive.

the NY hip hop we grew up is still kind of arond just on the underground (Wiki, Bronson, Ka, Rome Streetz, Droog, Roc Marciano.. if you wanna count Nas and Griselda as underground now)

Mainstream, cultural ziegest wise, there is a thriving New York Hip Hop scene but like others said its the ladies and its the drill sound. And thats okay if the kids want it

100% this. I know exactly what I want to hear from NY music, and it ain’t the shyt they’ve been putting out currently. The best music coming from NY currently are either by veterans, or late career folks just catching their break. Who are the under 25 NY artists that are actually making good music and not just making the derivative versions of the bad southern music that they’ve spent years slandering??

Take NY out n insert (pause) any city and it's still true. Mainstream music not putting out quality across the board. NY fell off so bad but nikkas stay on our dicc regardless.
